The Harry Potter trio

I am NOT finished with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was only able to read two chapters last night and I was disappointed. I thought I was going to be able to read more but, duty calls when it comes to homework. Anyway, as you Potter fans know by now Rupert Grint (Ronald Weasley), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Heroimine Granger) all had their hands, feet and wands cemented at Hollywood World famous Graumman's Chinese Theater.

As I try to finish the book this weekend I have to admit that I have a bit of a crush on Watson. She along with Grint and Radcliffe literally grew up before us into intelligent people...not to mention cute. But in that sense I still think that it's sad that the Potter series is over. I know that there is a call for the series to continue but like I said before just re-read the books and the series will not end if you go back. As for me, while the semester is almost here and there is anticipation on my part. I can't wait. Next week is finals and there is much to get done until then not to mention the Potter book.

Harry Potter book series

If you are a fan of Harry Potter I know that as all of us who have read the series can't believe that its author J.K. Rowling is ending the series. Yet, I have to say that I am not finished with the book. So, I am asking for you not to spoil the ending for me. But I can tell you this.

On Saturday my mom went to Borders to get the book and I would have to say when she gave it to me I went right to work on started reading. I have to say that using the imagination is always the best thing to do if you reading. As you all know all of the books are movies.

And that is courtesy of Warner Bros. of course and as the actors Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ronald Weasley) and yet, I do think that reading is the most important. Funny thing is when my sister walked into the room and saw that I had read 10 chapters by Sunday she said, "Damn!" She also said that she memorizes all of the films. But I told her that reading the books were more enjoyable because the thing was that it gave an audience as well as the individual imagination.

She thought about it for a minute and said well, "Lets begin..." At first I didn't know what that meant and even before that she wanted to read book 6 "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" but said that, that's cheating. You have to start at the beginning.

As I remember I was a late beginner when it came to Harry Potter but I have caught on and now that it is ending I am sad because of the fact that it's over. And to know that the audiences will miss the boy wizard of Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry I am confident that there will be a series that someone else will come up with that is just as great as this. Yet, I know that others will say that it will be a long time before Harry Potter will be replaced. That could be said for the actors who play the characters in the series. Granger Rules!

Well, in closing as I will go toward the ending of the book, I have to say that it will be a series that I will re-read again. Look at this way once you finish and restart the series again that means it will never end. BUT to all of the Harry Potter fans out there can you do me a favor...

I haven't finished the book, so don't spoil the end for me. I have read 24 chapters and I just read about the first death...but I beg you don't ruin it for me until I have reach the end. To Potter (Radcliffe) himself, Rowling and Potter fans around the world I say THANK YOU to you for creating a world that was and truly is a witches and wizards world.

Your campus correspondent keeps busy

Greetings! I have passed the time on my other blogs Airwave and Airwave Blog 2 and have spent reviewing music. Since I was young I have been a music fan of any music and also it takes me away from not doing anything. I know that so far I have reviewed a number of songs as well as albums. That is what I have done this summer in addition to going to summer school. I have enjoyed every second. I would hope that you will visit the blog sites and as always if there is music, an artist, an album or band you think I should listen to...let me know.

Thanx!

Fall Semester starts Aug. 13, 2007

Sorry I haven't written. I know that the previous blogs I shared my poetry but at this point I have nothing new to share. Anyway, there is three weeks left before the fall semester starts at Cerritos College and I can't wait. There will be more to report for the blog when the date is nearer and hopefully I will be able to take photos for the events on campus. However, I don't know if that will happen. I would like to but I don't know. Well, don't worry interesting things happen when more than 20,000 students come back for the regular spring and fall semester. Stay tuned...

Should I change my name?

Perhaps I should change my name from Norma to something else. How's "Ms. Talon Marks" or "Ms. The Most Recognized Name at Cerritos College?" Apparently my name will be associated with the student newspaper here on campus for a long time. How cool. Today as I was leaving my class for the day a woman came up to me and asked about the journalism program and this is even without knowing who she is. I didn't realize that there would be people that would recognize me or that they knew who I was. But apparently that is all different now that I have made my mark on the journalism department and program that helped me find who I am. Who I am going to be. I love that. I have to admit that it doesn't bother me that I am starting to see what I do and did for this campus at Cerritos, is gettting to see the positive side of the work I have done. I would hope that others who come through the doors and beyond will commit to what they love the most. I know I did more than 1,000 percent.

Well, this woman had asked me about how to be involved in the program and I said that she should look in the schedule of classes under Journalism. She also said journalism will maybe be a minor. Who know she might be able to help out this coming semester's editor-in-chief. I wish her luck. Who knows Talon Marks adviser might have a journalist coming soon. By the way, thank you again to all the people who help me out, I mean that in every sense of the word. I will enjoy my sabbitical.

The Times' Steve Lopez

I recently read Los Angeles Times columinst Steve Lopez take on L.A. mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's affair with a Telemundo reporter. This part of the column caught my attention and also was so funny. I don't know it seems that when you are a public you will always get burned...or in this case wonder what's next.

As for the mayor's "other woman," there had long been rumors linking him to a certain "on-air talent." I'm no psychologist, but can anyone be surprised that a man who counts the number of cameras at press events fell for someone in television?

My own suspicions of the current affair were all but confirmed last week when I called a Villaraigosa spokesman and asked to chat with the mayor about the rampant rumors. If there was no truth to them, I said, I would gladly sit down with the mayor and give him a chance to set the record straight.

The spokesman promised to check with the mayor and get back to me.

I guess he forgot.

Too bad, because I would like to have known if Villaraigosa intends to keep his name. The mayor used to be Tony Villar, as you know, until blending his last name with that of his wife, Corina Raigosa. If he ends up marrying Salinas, will he then become Villaraigosasalinas? Or Villarsalinas?

My vote would be for Villasalinas, with no "r," although I could be putting the cart ahead of the horse. There's no telling how serious Villaraigosa's latest relationship is, but if they do end up walking down the aisle, I can't imagine that Salinas would be content with a husband whose blended last name is a tribute to his ex-wife.

Why I love Her

Media Credit: Tanya Bermudez
I know that I have been called a Madonna freak because I love her so much. How can you say that? You knew from the beginning that I loved her and I don't intend to hide it. You all knew I loved Madonna from the beginning so what the f--king problem?

To you she may seem like just another pretty face
But to me she means much more then that
If there was anything that I could tell her it would be
These three words, "I love you!"

I love her because she is not afraid to be who she is
I lover her because she is different and using what she
Know artistically

There are too many words to describe her but I will try
my best. If there is anything I have learned that is to
aspire not inspire and that is what I have learned from her

She makes me want to know more about life not just in a sense of where it is now
but she has aspired me to make it better then when I was born that to her credit is what she did

I say fuck to all those who don't know why I should love her
but in the end I have been told, "What has she done for you lately?"
Isn't that what we ask our parents every single day and I have
come to ask that of those who are my parents now
and to no avail I have no answer for you

But that doesn't matter it is what that other person has done for me instead. It is her that I look toward in the end

She is controversial, she is bitchy, but she is powerful
She will leave you guessing until the end and she will leave you
asking for more and her music is also as important to me

I am a fanatic in very sense of the word. If you entered my room you will
see that throughout from each corner you look
But I assure you that there is more to me than what you see
but that okay I get judged from the outside more then the inside

I read, I write and I think for myself but what you didn't know ist that
when I was nine I spent my days and night mostly by myself

I guess that why when my parents are away it didn't faze me one
bit because I am used to being by myself walking in this world we
call the Great Mother Earth

That is not to say that, that other person was there to keep me
company because she was and I danced when I heard her first
sing and I still do

It has been more than 20 years since I saw her and asked who
she was and all I wanted was to know the name of this person
When I found out who she was I was thrilled and I know that
when her music comes on there is a song for every emotion that
it buried into of me

That to me is inspirational and that's what make her unique
I guess that is what Madonna has and that's why I love her

Thanx for listening.
